Buffet food and drinks at the Padres game. Now this is the way to watch baseball.

Our seats were right next to the opponent's bullpen, so we got to see John Smoltz warm up. When this guy throws the baseball, it makes a sizzling sound on its way to the catcher's mitt, then a loud pop as it hits. Reminds me of the sound of frying bacon. Smoltz allowed only a couple of batters to reach second base and shut out the Padres for 7 2/3 innings, until a double, sacrifice bunt, and sacrifice fly finally brought one home. Our Padres were still down 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth inning.
