Buzznet Book

okay, I've done it!  I've ordered a Buzznet Book!  56 pages, to include all 336 of the photos I've uploaded so far, except for those that I've put into "communities" (which I have stopped doing because they seem to get lost like this).  Anyway, I love this idea of making a photo album of my Buzznet photos.  Most of them are among my favorites, or else I wouldn't have uploaded them.  I sent the book directly to my mom and dad in Massachusetts, so I'll have to wait a bit before I see it.  I'll be out there on the 12th of August, so the wait won't be too long.

The photos are organized in album order, just like on this site, so all of the similar photos are grouped the same.  I kept 12 of them in my top gallery just so I'd have better control over the first two pages.  I'm not sure how the cover photos are selected, but I like the way it has turned out.  I decided to include only the captions, not the more wordy descriptions, because the descriptions seemed to have too large of an effect on the photo sizes.  With only the captions in place, all of the landscape photos seem to be the same size, and the portrait-oriented photos seem to be a bit smaller.  It might be nice to have an option of rotating the portrait-oriented photos just for these albums, so they'd print out the same size.  That's how it would look in a traditional photo album, as I recall.

Well, I'll let you all know how it looks once I see it.  Can't wait!

Beachward

So many things to do, and I'm heading for the beach.  Bringing my camera and hoping to get a few good surfing shots of my son and his friend. Work is overrated.  Play is way underrated.

Okay, here are three pics from our late afternoon beach visit.  We definitely don't do this enough.

A journal?

So, what am I going to do with a journal?  I can write whatever I want under the photos.  Well, I really haven't been taking many photos lately, though, and have even moved a few of my favorites up into the main gallery again, so maybe a journal isn't such a bad idea.

I'm writing this from Panera Bread restaurant, one of my favorite hangouts lately.  Not that I really want it to get any more crowded, but it's a wonderful place for a person who has two jobs and a laptop.  They offer free wireless in the restaurant, and have been nice enough to provide more than enough tables and chairs for their customers and for us freeloaders who just want to come in and chill for a while.  Actually, I have only done that once.  I usually buy something.  Yesterday it was a large iced tea (plain).  Today it's an iced tea and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup with a slice of their very good bread.  I've heard that soup is pretty good for you, because it gives you that "full" feeling right away, so you don't eat more than enough.  Anyway, it'll carry me through my four and a half hours of teaching tonight.  Maybe even longer, which would be nice, as eating anything too late in the evening spells nothing but trouble for my weight-watching effort.

So, maybe this journal thing could be useful after all.  I can't carry my D70 everywhere all the time, although I'd like to.  Maybe I should get a camera phone, or use my little Kodak mc3 a little more often.  For now, however, this is fun, and a good place for me to practice my keyboarding and writing skills.

Now who has time to read all these journals anyway?
