A journal?

So, what am I going to do with a journal?  I can write whatever I want under the photos.  Well, I really haven't been taking many photos lately, though, and have even moved a few of my favorites up into the main gallery again, so maybe a journal isn't such a bad idea.

I'm writing this from Panera Bread restaurant, one of my favorite hangouts lately.  Not that I really want it to get any more crowded, but it's a wonderful place for a person who has two jobs and a laptop.  They offer free wireless in the restaurant, and have been nice enough to provide more than enough tables and chairs for their customers and for us freeloaders who just want to come in and chill for a while.  Actually, I have only done that once.  I usually buy something.  Yesterday it was a large iced tea (plain).  Today it's an iced tea and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup with a slice of their very good bread.  I've heard that soup is pretty good for you, because it gives you that "full" feeling right away, so you don't eat more than enough.  Anyway, it'll carry me through my four and a half hours of teaching tonight.  Maybe even longer, which would be nice, as eating anything too late in the evening spells nothing but trouble for my weight-watching effort.

So, maybe this journal thing could be useful after all.  I can't carry my D70 everywhere all the time, although I'd like to.  Maybe I should get a camera phone, or use my little Kodak mc3 a little more often.  For now, however, this is fun, and a good place for me to practice my keyboarding and writing skills.

Now who has time to read all these journals anyway?

yeah. either get a camfone one of those laptops with the built in webcam since you're out all the time... might look weird pointing a huge notebook at things though...

i find it therapeutic to express my thoughts... i realise you express your thoughts and knowledge for a living but surely it must be comforting to feel that you can express your thoughts about issues that are an insight into you as a person... besides, just because it's there doesn't mean we're compelled to use it - much like predict text on mobile phones... eeeeek!

enjoy your journal, pipilo... and that delicious soup... :)

I've had the same thought about the journal too, initially. Especially that I have journals somewhere else that I rarely update now. But I've found use of it, or enjoyed using it, because there are times when I'm too lazy to snap frames but wanna put something on buzznet.
you can never guess who reads journals. in my first blog, i've met wonderful people and been able to discuss issues with them in relation to their personal lives. it's like watching a movie, or reading a book that's not fictional. sometimes people find blogs as outlets for thoughts looming in their minds but find difficult to communicate with others. In a blog you won't get interrupted, so people get to read your complete thoughts before they butt in their own.
udder: yeah, who needs those predict text anyway? I don't know anyone who activates that feature in his phone

I have been journaling for nearly 20 years but I find this a bit intimidating. Although there is many things that go on at the farm the I would love to fill out more with more thorough explanations. I haven't used the journal as of yet. I have very much enjoyed reading what others have shared so far.

I do carry my "big gun" camera around all the time but when I am tryinmg to be more discreet I use my litttle Sony cybershot that fits in my cell phone sleeve.

I love your photos and no doubt will enjoy your journaling as well!

I wasn't sure I would use it either pip but I like it.

Very nice entry for an unsure journalist.

There are a couple of Paneras in Chattanooga. They are yuppie magnets though.

Thanks for all the comments everybody. This is pretty fun. How is it that so many nice people are attracted to Buzznet?
pipilo: 08/05/2005 12:00 PM
Okay, this is ridiculous, Panera Bread restaurant has blocked access to Buzznet. Crazy ultraconservative censors...

put a smaller lens on the D70 and you may carry it around more often. I recently got a 35mm and shed the 18-10mm anchor. I'll prob. put the larger lens back on 'cause it's fun to zoom, zoom, zoom.

***go to an Au Bon Pain instead!!
